Question 1

Does Vet on a Bike do late evening calls: Yes – we do. We understand that in a world of technology, and geography is not a barrier to business, that not everyone works on UK timing. To that end – we can do evening calls up to 10pm. Please book at least 48 hours in advance so that we can plan our diaries!

Question 2

Does Vet On A Bike Compete with local practices; No – we aim to compliment them. Not everyone can attend vet appointments – either due to work commitments, unable to travel or their pet finds the vets too stressful. We aim to help these pets and people. However, we cant do everything in the home, so rely on small independent practices to help in areas we are not able to deliver in – eg xrays, sedations, dentals etc.

Question 3

Does Vet On A Bike offer a full range of Veterinary Care: No – not at the moment. At the moment, we are starting off small and intending to grow. We are, what is called in the Veterinary industry – a Limited Service Provider. So our initial launch will be doing vaccinations and export certificates. However – we do intend to grow, become a regular mobile practice, with the aim to deliver primary healthcare to pets in West and South West London in the comfort of their own homes.

Question 4

Does Vet on a Bike do emergency appointments: We have teamed up with a wonderful independent practice – Veteris – which provides our out of hours and emergency cover. They are a fantastic team of dedicated Emergency and Critical Care Vets and Vet Nurses, with a full complement of equipment which can deal with every eventuality. They operate both a mobile and hospital service, so completely compliment our model. Their number, location and information can be found on the emergency menu.

Question 5

Why on a bicycle? Our world is ever changing and we are seeing the effects of climate change. Cars have become more efficient, but even with the introduction of EV vehicles, the fuel emissions have decreased, but we are still seeing an increase rubber particulates from tyres with the heavier vehicles. London traffic can also be a struggle, with the bridges under going structural repairs, getting across them can be up to 30mins additional travel time! So in an effort to have a minimal carbon footprint, with the quickest travel time, no parking fines and no ULEZ or congestion zone charges to worry about  and affect prices – the trusty bicycle was dusted off and Vet on a Bicycle became reality!

Question 6

What happens if the weather is bad? Vet on a Bike will come out in all weathers - as long as it is safe! Having raced around the world in Adventure Racing - the classic saying - 'there is no such thing as bad weather - just bad clothing'. Hopefully we will fulfil this!

However, if the weather is unsafe for a bicycle - we will look at other means of transport depending on the distance to travel.

Question 7

What area does Vet On A bike Cover? We are based in SW11 and will travel out to around a 10km radius, with the visit fee rising by distance band the further out it goes due to the time it takes to travel.

Question 8

Do you see horses as well as dogs and cats? Yes! There are several stables within the north and south circular where some vet practices struggle to get there due to traffic and the time it takes to get into London. We aim to help ease this! Yards will still need to keep registered with an external practice as we are unable to provide out of hours cover.
